Addison Group is partnering with our client, an established and respected law firm in Northern Virginia, to hire a Legal Assistant to support their Estate Planning and Trusts practice. This firm has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality legal services and fostering a collaborative professional environment. The team is seeking a polished and organized professional who enjoys supporting attorneys and interacting with clients in a fast-paced setting.
Job Description:
The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and paralegals within a busy estate planning and trusts practice. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with clients and assisting with document preparation and case coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and operational support to attorneys and paralegals within the practice group
- Communicate with clients regarding scheduling, documentation, and general inquiries
- Draft, edit, and proofread legal documents, letters, and correspondence using Microsoft Word
- Maintain organized digital and physical files for client matters and legal documentation
- Coordinate client meetings and assist during document execution or signing appointments
- Track deadlines and assist with task management to ensure timely completion of legal work
- Support document organization and filing processes for estate planning matters
- Obtain a notary commission and assist with witnessing signed documents when required
- Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive client and legal information
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm environment (required)
- Experience supporting estate planning or trusts practices preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, including formatting legal documents
- Excellent proofreading and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities
- Client-focused with a professional and personable demeanor
- Willingness to obtain a notary commission and participate in client signings
