About The Company:
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registration Representative to join its patient access team. This is a long-term opportunity in a professional hospital environment with potential for permanent employment.
Job Description:
The Emergency Department Registration Representative will serve as one of the first points of contact for patients entering the emergency department and admitting areas. This position focuses on accurately collecting patient information, completing registrations, supporting billing accuracy, and providing professional service in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with the registration and admitting process.
- Gather and verify demographic, insurance, and other required patient information.
- Conduct telephone interactions with patients when additional information is needed.
- Enter and update patient data accurately within the electronic health record system.
- Review registrations for missing or incorrect information and make timely corrections.
- Support accurate billing by ensuring patient accounts contain complete information.
- Protect confidential patient information and follow healthcare privacy requirements.
- Deliver professional, compassionate customer service in a high-volume environment.
- Collaborate with hospital staff to resolve registration or information-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Previous Emergency Department Registration experience strongly preferred.
- Experience using EPIC is highly preferred; Cerner experience may also be considered.
- Strong computer, data-entry, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Comfortable working in a busy emergency department environment.
- Previous hospital registration, patient access, or admitting experience preferred.
- Candidates should be able to clearly explain any employment gaps or short-term positions on their resume.
- Professional references who can speak positively about previous performance are preferred.
Additional Details:
- One onsite interview is required.
- Training typically lasts a couple of weeks and will be completed on a 2:00 PM–10:00 PM schedule.
- Start date is dependent on completion of onboarding, IT access, and required system training.
- Upon conditional offer of employment, the position requires a background check and drug screening.
- COVID-19 vaccination is required.
- Occasional overtime may be available.
