Addison Group is partnering with our client, a mission-driven organization, to hire an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading teams while driving process improvements.


Job Description:

This position plays a key role in overseeing the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across financial operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical accounting knowledge, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounts payable operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
  • Review and approve invoice coding, expense allocations, and payment authorizations
  • Lead, train, and support A/P team members, including performance management and workflow coordination
  • Monitor vendor payments and resolve discrepancies by collaborating with internal teams and external partners
  • Prepare and analyze reports such as aging summaries, payment trends, and exception tracking
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of liability accounts and ensure alignment with financial records
  • Support financial reporting by maintaining accurate ledgers and assisting with journal entries
  • Manage manual check processing and maintain organized financial documentation
  • Partner with leadership to improve procedures, streamline workflows, and enhance system efficiency
  • Assist with audits and maintain communication with external stakeholders such as auditors and banking partners
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and confidentiality requirements
  • Contribute to budgeting processes and monitor financial activity against approved allocations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3–4 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable processes
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or similar environment is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (ERP experience preferred)
  • Ability to analyze financial data and generate actionable insights
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
