A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Clerk to support billing and collections for skilled nursing facilities. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of Medicare, managed care, and accounts receivable who enjoys working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Job Description:
The Accounts Receivable Clerk will oversee billing follow-up and payment activity for skilled nursing accounts. The primary focus will be Medicare, managed care, and Medicaid-related billing, including researching outstanding balances, resolving discrepancies, and following claims through payment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply Medicare payments to resident accounts and research discrepancies.
- Reconcile vendor balances against applicable monthly charges.
- Identify and communicate Medicaid-related claim denials.
- Enter Medicare billing information from third-party billing partners into the appropriate system.
- Review account activity for accuracy and resolve billing inconsistencies.
- Process applicable ancillary charges and identify unusual account activity.
- Prepare and review co-insurance and managed care billing.
- Follow up on outstanding co-insurance and managed care claims until resolution.
- Assist with Illinois Medicaid billing and review related reports.
- Monitor census and income changes and assist with application follow-up.
- Prepare, maintain, and distribute accounts receivable reports as needed.
- Follow established billing procedures and organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of recent billing, accounts receivable, or insurance follow-up experience.
- Skilled nursing facility billing experience strongly preferred.
- Candidates without SNF experience should have significant Medicare and managed care billing experience.
- Knowledge of payer contracts, reimbursement processes, and insurance requirements.
- Experience handling multiple accounts and managing claim follow-up.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
- Self-directed with a willingness to investigate and resolve issues.
- GED or equivalent required.
- PointClickCare (PCC) experience is a strong advantage.
Additional Details:
- Hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite each week.
- Monday–Friday schedule with an 8-hour workday between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
