This team plays a critical role in ensuring accurate reimbursement by managing claims from submission through final resolution. Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Medical Collections Specialist to manage the full lifecycle of insurance claims, from initial billing through resolution. This role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to independently research and resolve claim discrepancies. Candidates should be comfortable working in a high-volume environment and handling complex insurance follow-up.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of medical collections or insurance follow-up experience
- Experience working with UB-04 forms and hospital billing
- Strong understanding of reimbursement methodologies
- Familiarity with denied claims, appeals, and re-billing processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including basic Excel skills
- Experience using systems such as WellSky, HMS, or similar platforms preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily workload efficiently
- Stable work history with clear, explainable experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and resolve insurance claims from submission through final payment
- Review aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances with payers
- Investigate and resolve denied or underpaid claims through research and analysis
- Submit corrected claims, appeals, and necessary documentation to support reimbursement
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and internal departments to resolve issues
- Review remittance advice to ensure accurate payment and make adjustments when needed
- Identify billing discrepancies and take corrective action to ensure proper reimbursement
- Maintain productivity expectations of approximately 18–20 claims per day
