About Our Client

Addison Group is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization seeking a Benefits and Retirement Specialist to join its Human Resources team. This position will play a key role in supporting employee benefit programs, retirement plan administration, and employee engagement related to total rewards offerings. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of benefits administration, excellent communication skills, and a customer-service-oriented approach.


Job Description

The Benefits and Retirement Specialist is responsible for coordinating and administering employee benefit and retirement programs while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and organizational policies. This role serves as a resource for employees regarding benefit options, enrollment activities, and retirement planning support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day administration of employee health, wellness, and retirement benefit programs.
  • Coordinate benefit enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and annual open enrollment activities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee questions related to benefit eligibility, coverage, and retirement plan participation.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure employee data is properly updated within HRIS and vendor platforms.
  • Partner with benefit providers and third-party administrators to resolve enrollment, billing, and eligibility issues.
  • Assist with retirement plan administration, including participant communications and compliance-related activities.
  • Review and reconcile benefit invoices to ensure accurate billing and reporting.
  • Support audits, regulatory filings, and documentation requirements related to employee benefits programs.
  • Develop educational materials and presentations to help employees better understand available benefit offerings.
  • Stay informed on changes to benefits regulations and industry best practices.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience administering employee benefits and retirement plans.
  • Working knowledge of health and welfare benefits, retirement programs, and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Experience utilizing HRIS platforms and benefits administration systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on employee support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Professional certifications such as CEBS, SHRM-CP, PHR, or related credentials are a plus.
