Global Engineering Talent Accelerates a Critical Internal Build
A leading credit company needed to execute a time-sensitive internal build that would modernize its technology environment, reduce reliance on a third-party platform, and avoid another costly vendor commitment.
Challenge
The client was initiating a major technology modernization project that included replacing a legacy application and eliminating reliance on a third-party platform. To reduce costs and gain greater control over the environment, the organization needed to build an internal solution but required specialized technical talent to execute it quickly.
If the system was not completed prior to the renewal date for the vendor platform, the client risked being locked into another costly vendor agreement, diverting budget away from other business priorities.
Solutions
As a long-time client of Mondo (an Addison Group company), the organization turned to our team to identify the talent needed to accelerate an internal build. The client had budget for four U.S.-based contractors. By leveraging Addison Group’s global delivery model, the Global Excellence Center developed a talent solution that expanded the team to eight specialized engineers within the same budget parameters.
Addison Group’s GEC partnered closely with the client’s hiring manager and lead architect to understand the project’s current state, target timeline, and technical requirements. Working alongside the client’s hiring team, the GEC translated the project’s technical requirements, timeline and collaboration needs into a global talent strategy. During the intake process, the GEC and Mondo teams identified the need for eight contract Full-Stack Engineers with strong TypeScript and GraphQL experience to build an effective internal solution. Additionally, the talent needed to be able to work in the Eastern time zone alongside the client’s U.S. team.
Within 24 hours, the GEC presented qualified engineering experts. Within seven business days, the team had identified seven engineers in India and one in the U.S., creating a globally distributed team capable of collaborating with the client’s Eastern time zone organization.
By leveraging Addison Group’s global talent network, the client increased project capacity while staying aligned to budget. The engagement enabled the client to keep the internal systems project on track and allowed the organization to reduce vendor dependence by replacing a partner it no longer viewed as a long-term fit, as well as saving money by not renewing a costly contract.
