Addison Group is partnering with a well-established healthcare organization in Chicago to hire an Insurance Authorization Representative. This role supports a busy authorization team and plays a critical part in ensuring services are approved efficiently and accurately. This is a contract opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent role.
Job Description:
The Insurance Authorization Representative will support a high-volume authorization function within a structured healthcare environment. This role focuses on coordinating prior authorizations, navigating payer systems, and collaborating with internal teams to prevent delays in patient care. This opportunity is well-suited for someone who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple requests at once, and following payer-specific requirements closely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Request and secure insurance authorizations for diagnostic and imaging-related services
- Submit authorization requests through payer portals with complete and accurate documentation
- Review authorization statuses and follow up proactively to meet service timelines
- Partner with clinical and administrative teams to obtain missing or updated information
- Maintain detailed and accurate authorization records in the system
- Adhere to payer guidelines, internal procedures, and regulatory standards
- Handle a large daily volume of authorization requests while meeting turnaround expectations
- Use Epic EMR to review orders, patient details, and supporting documentation
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of prior authorization experience in a healthcare setting
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume workload efficiently
- Hands-on experience with payer portals, including Medicaid, managed care, and commercial plans
- Strong understanding of prior authorization workflows and processes
- Epic EMR experience required
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage competing priorities
