About Our Client:

Addison Group is partnering with a large, rapidly expanding healthcare organization to support continued growth across multiple hospitals. Our client operates in a high-volume, quality-focused environment and is seeking experienced inpatient coders who can contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up time.

Job Description:

The Inpatient Coder is responsible for independently coding complex inpatient medical records to ensure accurate reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and complete clinical documentation. This role requires strong technical expertise, current system experience, and the ability to maintain strict quality and productivity standards in a fast-paced remote setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently code complex inpatient records using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS
  • Ensure accurate MS-DRG assignment, severity of illness, and risk of mortality capture
  • Review medical documentation for completeness and clinical validity
  • Draft and submit clinical queries when documentation clarification is needed
  • Maintain daily productivity and quality benchmarks
  • Collaborate with providers, CDI, and internal teams to support clean billing
  • Stay current on coding updates, guidelines, and regulatory changes

Qualifications:

  • An active RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification is required
  • A minimum of 3+ years of recent inpatient coding experience is required
  • Experience within a large academic or Level I trauma hospital setting or an organization supporting those facilities is requred
  • Current hands-on experience with Epic and 3M
  • Demonstrated ability to independently code complex inpatient records with minimal onboarding or ramp-up time
  • Proven proficiency in writing and submitting clinical queries independently, including strong understanding of clinical indicators and validation criteria
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience coding highly complex inpatient cases, such as transplant, cardiac, neurology, trauma, or advanced surgical procedures
  • Experience working within shared work queues while being assigned to specific facilities or specialty service lines
  • Strong understanding of compliant coding and documentation practices, including MS-DRG assignment, SOI, and ROM capture
