Join a rapidly expanding, multi-location organization. The company offers an entrepreneurial, fast-paced culture where employees are encouraged to think creatively, identify opportunities and take ownership of results.
Job Description:
The Construction Project Manager will oversee new-location builds, remodels, equipment upgrades, exterior signage installations and other capital projects across a large portfolio of facilities. This individual will manage projects from initial planning and permitting through construction, closeout and operational handoff.
The position will collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, municipalities and internal operations teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional who can manage multiple complex projects while proactively improving processes and minimizing disruption to active locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct new construction projects from site turnover through opening, including design coordination, bidding, permitting, construction, closeout and warranty management.
- Lead remodels, facility refreshes, equipment installations and capital improvements within operating locations.
- Manage projects ranging from approximately $50,000 to $1 million.
- Create detailed project scopes, schedules, phasing plans, budgets and forecasting reports.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors and local permitting authorities.
- Serve as the organization’s representative throughout the planning and construction process.
- Solicit and evaluate bids, proposals and contracts while monitoring costs and approving change orders.
- Review construction drawings for accuracy, operational requirements, lease obligations and applicable building codes.
- Facilitate project kickoff meetings, progress updates, stakeholder communication and closeout activities.
- Perform site visits, construction walks, punch-list inspections and final project reviews.
- Manage specialty projects involving roofing, structural repairs, mold remediation or other environmental concerns.
- Identify potential schedule, budget and scope risks and develop practical solutions.
- Coordinate the transition of completed projects to operations, facilities and maintenance teams.
- Recommend improvements to existing construction and project-management processes.
Qualifications:
- At least five years of construction or facilities project-management experience; a construction-focused background is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing large, complex commercial construction projects from planning through completion.
- Background supporting big-box, multi-site, retail, fitness or similarly sized commercial facilities.
- Strong experience developing and managing project and capital expenditure budgets.
- Proficiency with Smartsheet, SharePoint, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to interpret construction documents, drawings, scopes of work and vendor proposals.
- Strong organizational, analytical, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while effectively coordinating with distributed teams.
- Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with the confidence to identify and communicate process-improvement opportunities.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to construction and operating locations.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend and squat during site visits and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Additional Details:
- PMP, Construction Manager or related professional certifications are preferred.
- Familiarity with mold remediation, environmental controls, roofing or structural repair projects is beneficial.
- Experience using AI to review schematics, develop timelines, support planning or improve construction workflows is a plus.
- The project-management group includes Project Managers and Project Coordinators who work collaboratively across the company’s portfolio.
- The interview process is expected to include two virtual interview stages.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. A motor vehicle record review may also be required due to travel.
