Job Description:
The Accountant will provide hands-on support to the finance team during a maternity leave coverage period. This role will focus on core accounting functions including month-end close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting, while also serving as a point of contact for field locations with accounting-related questions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Perform daily and monthly bank and cash reconciliations
- Prepare and support balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements
- Communicate with branch locations to resolve accounting questions and discrepancies
- Investigate variances across multiple entities and support consolidated reporting
- Collaborate with internal finance team members to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Maintain organized documentation and support audit or internal review requests
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills, including use of formulas and multi-sheet workbooks
- Experience with month-end close and reconciliations required
- Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and problem-solve independently
- Prior experience in financial services or public accounting is a plus, but not required
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with remote or multi-location teams
Additional Details:
- Contract role through September
- Fully onsite position
- Schedule options: 8:00–5:00 or 8:30–5:30
- Reports into senior finance leadership
- Team environment with approximately 8 accounting professionals
- Systems include Sage 100 and Excel (some locations use different platforms)
