We spoke with Amy to learn her advice for candidates and clients as well as insights from her career journey.
1. What drew you to the staffing industry?
I was recruited into this industry through my network, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. Before Addison, I managed teams that were difficult to staff, as well as teams that had great tenure. It was here that I noticed a significant difference in success based on how well a team was staffed. The impact of having the right people in the right roles was profound. It influences productivity, morale, and overall success. I absolutely love helping my clients build the best teams, seeing firsthand how effective staffing can transform an organization.
2. What sets Addison Group’s Healthcare talent solutions apart from other organizations?
At Addison, we believe in “people over process.” This philosophy guides everything we do, ensuring we prioritize individuals and relationships in our approach. Unlike other firms that may rely heavily on rigid processes and impersonal metrics, we focus on understanding the unique needs and strengths of both our clients and candidates. We understand these needs by meeting on-site with clients to see the location. From there we ask questions about the roles they’re looking for, which helps us uncover the right solution for client. This approach allows us to create tailored solutions that truly fit, fostering long-term success. Our commitment to personalized service and genuine care for the people we work with sets us apart in the healthcare staffing industry.
3. What is one thing you want your clients and candidates to know about Addison’s culture?
Addison’s culture is built on a foundation of support, collaboration, and growth. We believe in empowering our team members and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive. Our culture is not just about meeting targets but also about personal and professional development. If our employees put in the work, we’re going to help them grow and they’re going to see the fruits of their labor.
We also celebrate successes together, learn from challenges, and continuously strive to improve. This supportive and growth-oriented atmosphere extends to our clients and candidates, ensuring they feel valued and understood throughout the staffing process.
4. What are you most proud of during your journey with Addison Group?
I’m fortunate to have amazing clients and I’m most proud of the incredible team I’ve built to support them in our partnership. Seeing my team develop, take on challenges, and deliver exceptional results gives me immense satisfaction. Their dedication and hard work not only benefit our clients but also contribute to a positive and dynamic work environment. I see this positive work environment by my team recognizing each other’s work and submitting each other for internal awards. Also, they always work together toward the same goals of finding the best solution for our clients. Building a team that shares a common vision of excellence and client-focused service is a highlight of my career at Addison.
5. What is the biggest career lesson you’ve learned so far?
Thanks to a supportive manager at Addison, I’ve grown quickly and learned that I’m capable of more than I ever thought possible. The biggest lesson is to believe in yourself and to support others in their growth. Being in a position where I can mentor and inspire my team, much like my manager did for me, has been incredibly fulfilling. I trust my team to do their work and always let them know that if they put in the work, their career will grow. It’s a reminder that with the right support and mindset, we can exceed our own expectations.
6. What advice would you give someone looking for their next opportunity?
Taking a leap into a new industry can be daunting. I found inspiration in the quote, “The move you are afraid to make might just be the game changer.” Joining Addison has been an amazing experience and I’m incredibly grateful for it. This is truly my dream job! My advice is to embrace new opportunities with courage and an open mind. Sometimes, the roles that seem the most intimidating can turn out to be the most rewarding. Trust in your abilities and be willing to step outside your comfort zone.
7. What advice would you give to companies who are unsure about hiring in this market?
Hire individuals with relevant experience and a strong work ethic. References from previous employers often provide better insights than resumes alone. In today’s dynamic job market, adaptability and dedication are crucial traits. Sometimes you’ll need to adapt your expectations and interview process to get the best candidates. If you don’t, then you may end up with people who aren’t your top choices.
While a perfect resume may look impressive, the candidate’s real-world performance and their ability to contribute positively to your team culture are what truly matter. Prioritizing these qualities can lead to more successful hires and a stronger, more resilient team.
8. In what ways has your team immersed themselves in your local Minneapolis community?
We’ve recently started getting involved with a local non-profit in Minneapolis called Achieve Twin Cities. Their mission is to provide young people in the community access to resources to help them find career opportunities. Recently, we had the opportunity to conduct interview prep sessions with students working toward their internship goals. The entire team found this experience incredibly rewarding. It’s been amazing to take the skills we use at our jobs to help the community outside of the business.
9. Anything else you’d like to say, advice to give, etc.?
My job is all about networking and building relationships. If you’re unsure about partnering with an agency, I’d love to take you to lunch and discuss your options. Building a partnership can bring fresh perspectives and resources to your hiring process. Let’s explore how we can work together to achieve your staffing goals. Whether you need immediate support or are planning for future growth, I’m here to help and look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with you.
