Description
A rapidly growing, national specialty litigation firm is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join its Atlanta office. The Staff Accountant role is responsible for supporting the accounting function and reports directly to the Controller. This position prepares and maintains financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform basic accounting processes, monthly closings, and review account activity
- Reconcile general ledger accounts
- Manage and monitor trust account activity, including issuing settlement checks, refunds, unapplied cash, and retainers
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Reconcile work in progress
- Track COBRA
- Prepare regular and ad hoc monthly reports
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required, or 10+ years of accounting experience
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Effective written and oral communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with a track record of trustworthiness
- Proven ability to maintain a calm, courteous, and professional demeanor with a positive attitude
- Proficiency with accounting software, paperless environments, and Microsoft Office preferred
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work in a high-pressure environment
- Strong analytical mindset
- Experience in a professional services environment is a plus
