Staff Accountant

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to support our accounting function. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records, tracking assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a professional, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly closings and review account activity
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and work in progress
- Manage and monitor trust account activity, including settlement checks, refunds, unapplied cash, and retainers
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Prepare regular and ad hoc monthly reports
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or 10+ years of equivalent accounting experience
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and trustworthiness
- Professional, calm, and positive demeanor
- Advanced Excel skills
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-pressure environment
- Strong analytical mindset
Preferred:
- Experience in a professional services environment
