About Our Client:
Addison Group is partnering with our client to identify an experienced Business Data Analyst to join their Business Intelligence team. This opportunity is ideal for a business-focused analyst who excels at collaborating with stakeholders, gathering business needs, and transforming those requirements into actionable documentation for technical teams.
The role will primarily focus on business analysis (approximately 70%), with the remaining 30% dedicated to data analysis. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and BI developers, ensuring business objectives are clearly understood and translated into effective reporting and analytics solutions.
Job Description:
The Business Data Analyst will work closely with cross-functional business partners to evaluate reporting needs, facilitate requirements discussions, and document functional and technical expectations. This individual will help drive projects from initial discovery through development and user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring delivered solutions align with business objectives and end-user expectations.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, particularly supporting technology, data, reporting, or business intelligence initiatives.
- Proven ability to facilitate stakeholder discussions and convert business needs into detailed requirements, technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience coordinating and participating in UAT, partnering with end users to validate functionality, data accuracy, and overall solution effectiveness.
- At least 3 years of practical SQL experience, including querying, analyzing, validating, and reconciling information across multiple data sources.
- Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting platforms such as Power BI, IBM Cognos, or Tableau.
- Strong Microsoft Excel capabilities, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, and Power Query.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational needs, reporting objectives, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Lead requirements-gathering sessions and translate business requests into clear, actionable documentation.
- Develop functional requirements, technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for BI development teams.
- Serve as the communication link between business users and technical resources throughout project delivery.
- Use SQL to investigate datasets, validate reporting outputs, identify discrepancies, and reconcile information across systems.
- Collaborate with BI developers to ensure reporting solutions meet documented business requirements.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing and work with stakeholders to confirm that completed solutions meet expectations.
- Support the development, enhancement, and ongoing accuracy of dashboards and business reporting tools.
Additional Details:
The following qualifications are considered advantageous:
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Power Apps, Power Automate, Python, R, or Jupyter Notebooks.
- Experience working with Salesforce and CRM-related reporting or analytics.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and technology project delivery processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Background in insurance, brokerage, MGA/MGU environments, financial reporting, or operational analytics.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance, auditing, data governance, data quality, information privacy, or security practices.
- Experience supporting enterprise-level BI solutions, standardized dashboards, or globally distributed reporting teams.
