About the Opportunity
A growing multi-state organization is seeking a Part-Time Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for approximately 1000+ employees across multiple states. This is a contract opportunity ideal for a payroll professional who can work independently, communicate effectively with employees, and manage full-cycle payroll processing in a fast-paced environment.
I. Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle payroll for a multi-state employee population
- Support payroll operations for approximately 900 employees (primarily hourly workforce)
- Review, audit, and scrub payroll-related reports for accuracy
- Generate and distribute payroll reports as needed
- Serve as a point of contact for employee payroll inquiries
- Collaborate with accounting and operations teams on payroll-related tasks
- Provide support for year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting
- Assist with additional accounting functions, such as accounts payable support, when needed
II. Required Qualifications
- Experience processing full-cycle payroll
- Experience with multi-state payroll, including California payroll regulations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
III. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with payroll platforms such as Paylocity or similar systems
- Exposure to accounting or accounts payable functions
- Familiarity with reporting and payroll data analysis
