About the Opportunity:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Customer Service Representative to join their team in a fast-paced B2B manufacturing environment. This position will support customers, sales representatives, and internal teams while handling order entry, inventory questions, product information, and general customer service needs. This is a true temp-to-hire opportunity with the potential to transition into a permanent position. The ideal candidate will have strong B2B customer service or inside sales experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to learn technical products and specifications. A background in manufacturing, distribution, logistics, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or another technical environment is a plus. Prior experience with the specific products is not required, but candidates should demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn technical information quickly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to B2B customer inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels.
- Enter and process customer orders accurately within an ERP system.
- Research inventory availability and provide customers with product information and estimated timelines.
- Assist customers with order status, availability, pricing, and product-related questions.
- Coordinate with internal departments to resolve order, inventory, and shipping issues.
- Support regional and field sales representatives with customer and order-related needs.
- Follow up with customers and internal teams to ensure issues and requests are resolved.
- Maintain accurate customer records, order information, and documentation.
- Learn and become knowledgeable about technical industrial products and applications.
- Understand product specifications, measurements, assembly information, and other technical details.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations related to pricing, costs, measurements, and other order information.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy when entering and reviewing data.
- Provide professional and responsive customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform additional administrative and customer service responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3+ years of B2B customer service, inside sales, order entry, or related experience preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, industrial, technical, logistics, or another B2B environment is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn technical products and specifications.
- Ability to understand measurements, product specifications, and basic mathematical calculations.
- Strong computer skills and experience working with ERP or CRM systems.
- Experience with ERP systems is preferred; specific system experience is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong data entry and typing skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize competing requests.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, sales representatives, and internal departments.
- Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, manufacturing, industrial, or technical experience is a plus.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Monday–Friday schedule.
- Fully onsite in Charlotte, NC.
- Standard business hours with lunch schedule determined by the team.
- Overtime may occasionally be required.
- Occasional Saturday hours may be required.
- Must be able to reliably commute to the worksite.
- Candidates should have no planned time off during their first 60 days.
