About the Role
We are looking for an Accountant to support month-end close, reporting, and compliance in a large, operationally complex environment. You'll work closely with teams across the business and take real ownership of your accounting work.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations
- Analyze P&L and balance sheet activity
- Support month-end close
- Prepare monthly and quarterly operational reporting
- Analyze financial activity and investigate discrepancies
- Support internal controls, GAAP compliance, SOX, and other statutory requirements
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting
- Support capital expenditures, asset transfers, and retirements
- Support internal and external audits
- Work cross-functionally with Accounting, Tax, Treasury, IT, HR, Legal, Sales, Environmental Compliance, and field Finance teams
- Support regulatory, franchise, and local tax-related accounting and compliance work
Must Haves
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- Experience in a larger or operationally complex environment (e.g., manufacturing, distribution, logistics, healthcare, construction, environmental services)
- Hands-on month-end close experience
- Personally prepares journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Strong understanding of accrual-basis accounting
- Solid GAAP and general ledger foundation
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Comfortable managing deadlines and multiple priorities during a fast close
- Curious and willing to ask questions rather than just follow instructions
