Fortunately, unemployment rates continue to decrease across the board. According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate of college-educated workers went from 2.2 percent to 2 percent, and while this change is not incredibly significant, it is a move in the right direction. Specifically, in the financial sector, unemployment is even lower at 1.8 percent.

According to the report, the exact breakdown of employment for accounting and finance positions are as follows:

  • Financial analysts: 1.0%
  • Financial managers: 2.3%
  • Accountants and auditors: 1.8%
  • Bookkeeping, accounting and auditing clerks: 2.0%
  • Billing and posting clerks: 1.2%
  • Compliance officers: 0.8%

Fortunately, these types of skills are still in high demand, and companies are willing to make room in their budgets to accommodate these incredibly important roles.
