We spoke with Emily to hear her thoughts on the current state of hiring for HR departments and where organizations are investing in HR.

What is the current state of hiring for HR departments?

We’re continuing to see an increasing demand for recruiting talent across the market. This is something to feel optimistic about!

When organizations begin investing in additional recruitment support, it often signals something larger happening behind the scenes. Growth plans are becoming priorities, hiring budgets are opening back up, and businesses are gaining confidence to expand their teams. Recruiting functions are frequently one of the first areas organizations strengthen when preparing for increased headcount and future growth initiatives.

As hiring needs become more complex and competitive, companies are recognizing that attracting and securing top talent requires dedicated resources, strategic partnerships, and speed to market. Whether through internal talent acquisition teams or external recruiting support, organizations are making intentional investments to ensure they can meet business goals and scale effectively.

Increased demand for recruiters is an encouraging indicator that many businesses are moving from planning to action and creating opportunities, building teams, and investing in what’s next. The key is to prioritize hiring needs, make the hiring process efficient, and act quickly when the right candidates are identified.

Where are organizations focusing their HR investments?

There is increased demand for talent within Learning & Development. That shift says a lot about where organizations are placing their focus.

As companies continue to grow and expand their teams, many are realizing that growth is not just about bringing in new talent, but it’s also about developing and retaining the talent they already have. By doing this, organizations can see higher employee engagement and productivity, lower turnover, and stronger leadership pipelines by investing in long term internal growth partners.

Companies are investing more intentionally in training, leadership development, career pathing, and employee enablement to create stronger internal pipelines for the future.

Developing internal talent creates a strong leadership pipeline, allowing organizations to promote employees who already understand the business, culture, and strategic goals.

Rather than employees feeling the need to leave an organization to gain new experiences or advance their careers, companies are building environments that encourage internal mobility and long-term development. By creating more opportunities for skill building, mentorship, and career progression, organizations are helping employees gain exposure to new challenges while continuing to grow within the business.

This increased investment in Learning & Development reflects a broader shift in mindset – sustainable growth happens when organizations prioritize not only hiring great people, but continuously developing them as well.
