At Addison Group, we offer meaningful and transformative internship experiences that provide a solid foundation for starting your career. Our internship program provides roles in our different verticals – IT, finance and accounting, healthcare, engineering, digital marketing, and corporate functions, including marketing.

Kaitlin Arnett and Nicole Jahn were marketing interns during the Summer 2020 internship program, and both were offered full-time positions as marketing coordinators in June 2021 post-graduation. Kristine Loughery worked as a recruiting intern during Spring 2021 before joining the Finance and Accounting recruiting team full-time this summer at our Chicago headquarters.

In honor of National Intern Day, we spotlighted former interns to learn more about their experience and why they chose to start their careers at Addison Group.

How would you describe the internship program to someone who wants to apply for an internship?

Nicole Jahn: There is a lot of flexibility – in my experience, I was hired initially to join the recruiting team before ultimately landing in marketing. Everyone at Addison Group is so supportive and there to answer my every question. I feel like I had a billion questions, even now, a year later with being a new full-time marketing coordinator, and everyone is super eager to help.

Kaitlin Arnett: My internship with the marketing team allowed me to work across multiple brands with social media, graphics, write blog posts, help develop case study designs, coordinate swag with our vendors, and more.

Kristine Loughery: I was only working three days a week, but I was able to get 3-4 candidate visits through those three days, so I was racking up many CVs, which I think helped show that I could be a full-time recruiter.

How did your internship help shape your career aspirations?

Nicole Jahn: It made me realize I wanted to go into marketing because I just really enjoyed coming into work every morning, and I’d never had that feeling before. I was just excited to go to work, everyone was so nice, and the culture – I loved it.

Kaitlin Arnett: Addison Group helped me figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life. With everything going on in the world, this was a really good thing that happened. I’m really grateful for that.

Kristine Loughery: I would describe my experience as one that not only prepared me for my full-time position at Addison Group as a recruiter but also as one that was able to give me insight into the real world after college. Internships are a great way to understand better how the company operates and help you find your place within the company.

What has been a highlight during your time working at Addison Group?

Nicole Jahn: I really like the team – everyone is so helpful with answering questions and being supportive. And even though I don’t do recruiting, I like their position on “people-first.” The team at Addison Group cares about the people they recruit, but they do that with employees as well, in my experience.

Kaitlin Arnett: (During my internship) I had the best summer of my life, and I learned so much about myself and what I want to do. I can’t see myself doing anything else. It made me fall in love with Marketing, which I didn’t think was possible, but it is possible to fall in love with something you want to do for the rest of your life.

Kristine Loughery: My team and my boss. Honestly, it was really easy to jump into things and learn because of how friendly and outgoing everybody was, which made me want to do well. It’s one thing if you’re just doing work every day, but it’s another when somebody is actually acknowledging it, and that’s how I feel at Addison Group.
