Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Legal Assistant to join a collaborative Workers’ Compensation team. Ideal candidates are self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are ready to take ownership of their projects with support from attorneys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and send legal correspondence including status letters and subpoenas
- Manage call sheets and docket important case deadlines
- Handle case openings: draft letters to clients and opposing counsel, manage case labels, and review prior claims
- File appearances and proofs of service using CompFile and other filing systems
- Organize and upload mail, faxes, and pleadings into NetDocs
- Prepare HIPAA authorizations and update subpoena schedules
- Support attorneys with time entry and administrative projects
- Collaborate with a contract typist for subpoena preparation
- Assist with document management related to settlements and client communications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2–3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks independently
- Experience with CompFile (preferred but not required)
- Business casual professional demeanor
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fast learner with a proactive, self-driven work ethic
