About Our Client:

Our client is a California-based engineering contractor with specialized expertise in environmental remediation and demolition services. Their work includes projects such as contaminated site cleanup, water treatment, facility deactivation, and habitat restoration. They serve a wide range of clients across sectors including government, education, energy, manufacturing, and aerospace. The company employs approximately 190 people and growing!

Job Description:

This onsite HR Generalist role is a great fit for an experienced, bilingual (Spanish/English) human resources professional who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on environment. As part of a small and collaborative HR team, this individual will support core HR functions—including full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and employee relations—while helping to foster a positive and productive workplace culture. The HR Generalist will also serve as a strategic partner to the leadership team, providing coaching and guidance, and will work closely with Safety Managers to ensure alignment between HR practices and field operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting: post jobs, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and extend offers
  • Lead onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring accurate system data entry
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, PTO, and general HR concerns
  • Oversee benefits enrollment and respond to employee benefits questions
  • Audit and process benefits and 401(k) reports and invoices on a regular basis
  • Coordinate performance reviews and maintain compensation records
  • Handle employee relations issues, manage leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA), and resolve workplace concerns
  • Coach managers, particularly field leadership, on HR best practices

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of generalist-level HR experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (required)
  • Strong background in talent acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, and benefits
  • Experience with Vista or ADP (Vista preferred)
  • Comfortable giving pushback and navigating tough conversations
  • Construction industry experience preferred, but not required

Additional Details:

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (can be flexible with earlier start time)
  • Work Environment: Onsite, business casual dress code
  • Reports to: HR Manager
