About the Opportunity:

Addison Group is seeking an experienced Director of Marketing & Business Development to join our client, a well-established and respected law firm located in Montgomery County, MD. This is a high-impact leadership role that will drive firm-wide marketing, branding, and business development strategies. The ideal candidate brings a blend of strategic thinking, creativity, and professional services experience, particularly in the legal sector.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and strengthen relationships with current clients while launching initiatives that generate new business opportunities.
  • Partner with leadership to shape and implement strategic marketing plans tailored to specific regions, practice areas, industries, and individual attorneys.
  • Optimize the firm’s visibility through events, sponsorships, thought leadership, speaking opportunities, and digital campaigns.
  • Maintain a structured process for updating marketing content, client information, and pitch materials in alignment with the firm’s goals.
  • Track industry trends and competitive intelligence to guide strategic decisions and identify growth opportunities.
  • Enhance the firm’s data collection processes and usage to better understand market positioning and client experience.
  • Oversee updates to marketing databases, website content, professional bios, CRM systems, and mailing lists.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels, including digital media, PR, and internal communications.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with attorneys and practice groups to align business development efforts with firm-wide objectives.
  • Leverage a mix of earned media, digital marketing, and content strategy to elevate brand awareness and credibility.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related business discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of marketing/business development experience in a professional services environment, with at least 5 years in a law firm setting.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building capabilities.


Technical Proficiency:

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as ContactEase (or similar platforms).
  • Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) is a plus.
