Labor Report: MARCH 2022

U.S. Employment Hovers Close
to Pre-Pandemic Levels

The Bureau of Labor Statistics employment report for March outlines continued positive growth for the U.S. economy as Q1 ends.

According to the latest employment report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The report estimates that 431,000 workers joined the labor force in March; now the total is just 174,000 workers away from returning to pre-pandemic numbers. Another statistic close to reaching pre-pandemic levels is the labor force participation rate, which increased one-tenth of a percentage this month, to 62.4% from 62.3% in February 2020.

Although economists surveyed before the report’s release estimated the numbers to be higher – 490,000 on payrolls and an unemployment rate of 3.7%, the economy is still progressing and is expected to exceed pre-pandemic levels soon.

Addison Group has also seen a growth-filled start to the new year, the professional and business services industry is booming, with about 723,000 more employed professionals than in February 2020.
