April Labor Report Recap
According to the recent jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, we’re still seeing new jobs added, with 253,000 jobs added in April 2023. This is an increase of 17,000 jobs compared to March 2023. Also, the unemployment rate decreased to 3.4 percent from 3.5 percent in March and is currently back to the level we saw in January.
The industries that saw the most job growth in April were professional and business services, healthcare, leisure and hospitality, and social assistance.
The healthcare industry saw major growth, with 40,000 jobs added in April and an average of 47,000 jobs added over the past six months.
The professional and business services industry is seeing significant job gains, with 43,000 jobs this month compared to 39,000 in March.
With more jobs added and the unemployment rate decreasing, the labor market looks good compared to March.
